The not so anti-war protests in Washington

Liberals across America heralded the anti-war marches in Washington this month as a triumph for freedom and democracy. In reality, athough the marcher’s intentions are on the whole commendable, they marched under the banners of nationalism and militarism.

The protests were largely sponsored by two groups, the Answer Coalition and United for Peace and Justice. International ANSWER, the group run by the "Worker's World" party and fronted by Ramsey Clark, openly supports Kim Jong-il, Fidel Castro, Slobodan Milosevic, and the "resistance" in Afghanistan and Iraq, with Clark himself finding extra time to volunteer as attorney for the génocidaires in Rwanda. International ANSWER can therefore only be viewed as a front for fascism, Stalinism, and jihadism.

It is one thing to be against the war in Iraq, but to march with a group that side with Serbian ethnic cleansers and the Taliban is another altogether. As I have mentioned in previous posts; it is important for the essentially pious (if misguided) left not to view those who revere the resistance in Iraq as beacons of the anti-war movement. The leaders of many ‘anti-war marches’ are not anti-war; they are pro-war; just on the other side.

its been great, thanks. im settling in pretty well and ive made loads of cool freinds.

im currently wondering why i keep critisising the anti-war movement in my posts rather than absconding the god-awful fuck ups that america and britain keep making in iraq. =/

i guess its because i dont agree with the 'bring the troops home now' and leave iraq to the terrorists mentality.

iraq was a giant fuck up - though now we have gone into the country i think we have a moral responsibility to put it right - or at least stay as long as the iraqi security forces need to supress the insurgents.

its not all bad news from iraq - the al qaeda second in command dude was killed. and a constitution is being formed; the fact no group feels satisfied with it shows that its palatably fair.

im an internationalist, a liberal and a democrat. i want to see democracy and freedom in every country on earth - its every man or womens birth right as a human being in the modern world.

this is the main ethos that drives me. the anti-war movement - or some of those who lead it (clark, galloway, islamist extremists etc)dont appear to want to see democracy in iraq and side with fascists/nationalists/cunts etc. there is nothing i despise more than fascism; whether is be in the form of the bnp, the kkk or radical islamists.

hmhmhm - im rambling... heres my political development of recent years:

anti war - didnt believe bush and blair - still dont

now we're in iraq lets finish the job - no point in crying over spilt milk - lets clean it up - help them set up a democracy etc

fucking hell - members of the anti-war movement are actually siding with the resistence - ooo look! they are also siding with fascists! the leaders of the anti-war movement are misguided and are not looking out for the best interests of iraq.

its late... this probably didnt make any sense - i will probably delete it in the morning when im sober
